Farnham Castle Wedding | Catherine + Nik
I was thrilled when Catherine and Nik booked me for their Farnham Castle wedding. What a stunning wedding location! It has everything - a choice of ceremony venues, a banqueting hall for the reception, lush grounds, even some picturesque ruins for those epic wedding portraits.
The day ended, as all good days should, with a proper boogie and quality gin.
Catherine and her bridesmaids got ready in the historic Gatehouse cottage in the castle grounds, while Nik and his groomsmen put the finishing touches to their outfits over a beer in the Tindle Bar.
Catherine was the picture of elegance in a dress by Evie Young and her extraordinary bouquet was made up of huge hyacynths specially grown by her parents.
The ceremony took place in the beautiful Lantern Hall with its arched windows, followed by confetti on Fox’s steps, which themselves run under a covered stone arch. Everything about the location is marvellously atmospheric! A perfect wedding venue, and it really is a joy to photograph there.
Catherine and Nik were also wonderful to work with: kind and genuine, and game for trying out different shots, despite not being used to being photographed or the centre of attention. We had done a pre-wedding session together the year before (at the lush RHS Sisley Gardens) - so we knew each other and they’d had some practice in front of the camera. This really helped then feel relaxed on their big day.
The wedding breakfast was held in the Great Hall, and having been supremely lucky with the weather all day we were able to dash out for some sunset shots in the Castle Keep ruins just before the sun went down.
The day ended, as all good days should, with a proper boogie and quality gin.
It was a real pleasure photographing Catherine and Nik’s wedding and working with the team at Farnham Castle. A highly recommended wedding venue! If you’re planning a Farnham Castle wedding do get in touch!
